Cheyenne in Harrisburg
Photos by HLC Art Photography
Cheyenne’s vibrant personality was an absolute delight to capture! My goal? To showcase her boldness mixed with a dash of her polite charm. She shared stories about her lyra classes—yes, that’s acrobatics on an aerial hoop! It’s clear that this unique workout added a one-of-a-kind flair to her poses.
Cheyenne points at the river and is concerned about the people on the boat below. “What if they thought I was pointing to something dangerous?” she says apologetically.
We shot her portraits in the heart of Harrisburg, where she was born and raised. The Riverfront, with its blend of rest and nostalgia, was an obvious choice. It’s a place filled with fond memories, especially of the strolls she took with her late grandmother. They would walk together, and when they reached the river, her grandmother would settle in, hand-quilting under the open sky.
The branches overhead point to her shadowy profile. Her flowery earing dangles in the middle of the shot.
Our second location took us to the iconic Capitol Fountain on Commonwealth Avenue. This spot held special meaning for Cheyenne, as it was part of her daily walk to work before she got a car. Watching the tourists marvel at the view rekindled her love for Harrisburg’s colorful spring.
Golden Hour brought a bit of a challenge with two other photo sessions happening simultaneously, but we rolled with it. The fountain’s cool mist was refreshing after basking in the afternoon sun.
A faint rainbow washes over the jet streams with the colorful purple lights underneath the water’s surface.
Resting on the shallow steps around the fountain as the sun sinks.
Holly is a lovely camerawoman to work with. She’s patient as I cycle through every pose that comes to mind. Not to mention she has a breadth of ideas of her own!
Her determination to get the perfect lighting, the right angles interesting perspectives makes Holly a great choice for your next photoshoot.
